An e-commerce company dealing with custom shipping requirements requested TechSlice’s assistance debugging issues with bulk freight shipping and issues when enabling shipping plugins across multiple carriers, such as R&L for freight, Fedex, and UPS. We were able to identify that the plugins in question required specific shipping class metadata to be present on item entries in order to return results from their corresponding APIs.
We also advised on region and tax adjustments to account for quote differences between the rate estimates provided by the shipping company APIs vs the real charges that were reported by the warehouse personnel of the client company.
Finally, we identified typos in the development and production keys used to integrate with the shipping APIs and updated versions to maintain future integration success.
The client has reported success in shipping and a more effective cost estimate being generated by the shipping API calls in the checkout process.
